What Makes A Luxury Property? The Hyspec Homes Difference
At Hyspec Homes, we’ve been in the business of building homes for a long time – so we know very well that the concept of “luxury” will change depending on who you ask. For some, a home is a luxury cabana by the beach, with an infinity pool to laze around it. For others, it’s a huge multi-room mansion with a marble kitchen, a home cinema, and a garage to fit multiple cars. It all depends on who you ask.
However, there are some aspects of a luxury property that people can generally agree on. Throughout our years of building new homes across Sydney, this is what we’ve come to expect when people opt for a luxury build – and this is how we go about achieving it.
The Top Features You’ll See In A Luxury Home
When we talk about luxury homes, we are generally talking about a home that has a few noticeable features. The first you’ll notice is the size of the house, whether it be single- and multi-storey.
A large, well-laid-out house with an open floor plan can really sell a sense of luxury, which is why so many new homes these days feature open living, dining and alfresco areas. The amenities in this space are also important – think pools, butler’s pantries, smart home features, walk-in robes, and so on. These can go a long way towards adding value to a luxury property.
Lastly, you should expect a high price tag for a luxury home, especially if it has been specially designed by an architect and is a one-of-a-kind home. If you’re looking to build a luxury house from the ground up, it’s always best to work with custom home builders to ensure a professional build and experience.
The Characteristics Of A Luxury Property Build
There is definitely a “feeling” that hits you when you step into a splendidly built home. Some may put this down to things like a kitchen with pricey appliances, a home gym, ducted air conditioning, or grand staircases – but in our opinion, the true luxury is in the bones of the build.
This includes a well-designed and well-built home – not a home that will shift on its foundations and begin to crack within ten years. It also includes things such as abundance of natural light, large bedrooms (including the master), vaulted ceilings that sing of space, and well-appointed storage that allows for a sleek look to the home. These also lend themselves to another characteristic of a luxury home: an aesthetic appearance. If a home can stray from conventional designs or the idea of “McMansions” and present a real wow factor, it’s much more likely to be seen as luxurious in the eyes of the owner or buyer.
In addition to this, luxury homes tend to be in desirable locations. Whether it’s a rainforest bungalow or a beachside getaway, or perhaps even a trendy inner-city suburb, the location of a home can say a lot about what you may be purchasing or wanting to build. And of course, we always see high-quality materials used throughout the home. This can include everything from luxe kitchen countertops to bathroom fixtures.
How We Create And Renovate Our Luxury Properties
All of the aspects we mentioned, we applied during our Midgley project. The beautiful details of this renovation included completely re-doing their kitchen, making the layout more functional, and we also created a new powder room and laundry (all part of a well-designed and well-built home). The new main bathroom featured a new bath, shower screen and tiling, brushed brass tapware throughout, a new toilet and timber vanity, and dual backlit mirrors and basins.
Externally, we installed COLORBOND matte black standing seam cladding with a cantilevered barge cap with bevelled underside to create a custom eave overhang and installed a matte black standing seam roof. This elevated the aesthetic appearance of the home from the outside.
